Nicole Clark re-signs for Hornets Women for 2026

Rochdale Hornets Women have announced the re-signing of outside back Nicole Clark for the 2026 season.

The 19-year-old outside back re-signs for Rochdale Hornets, having been part of the club's 2025 promotion-winning squad.

“It was inspiring watching these girls win last year, and I’m excited to see it again for 2026," she said.

"Last season was my first time playing rugby. I was really confused about rules and tactics at first but, the whole team including staff were beyond encouraging from my first session, and they helped me build up my confidence and skill.

"The bond within the group is unlike anything I’ve seen in sport. It’s as if we’re all family. 

"I’m signing for Rochdale Hornets this season because of the love for the game and the community/family that comes from the team - staff included.

"This season for me is about improvement, as well as showing the team why they’ve put in the effort supporting me. I couldn’t thank them all enough!”

Women's head coach Ben Bird said: “Nicole comes to us admittedly as a newcomer to rugby league. Having been around the squad, she appreciates what we're about but also the levels we expect. 

"It's a testament to what we're about as a group and an organisation that we have people new to the sport arriving and buying in. As inexperienced as Nicole is, she's committed to growing personally and being part of what we're doing this year. 

"That's no mean feat when you consider the calibre of player she's in the squad with, and shows real bravery. 

"It's something I'm personally really proud of as a coach, that people feel able and safe in coming to us regardless of experience, to be a part our environment. It shows attitude and character are just as important to us as ability is. 

"I'm looking forward to building Nicole's confidence and skill set this season. We'll be able to look back come October and be proud of her progression.”
