Rochdale Hornets RLFC are seeking to appoint a Club Doctor for its 1st Team Mens home fixtures, ahead of the 2025 Season.

The right candidate must be driven, passionate and possess the ability to work with others within the first team environment. They will work alongside our club officials coaching staff and players, and must therefore possess excellent communication skills to undertake this role to the highest standards possible.

Essential requirements for this role:

  • Must be fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and is not subject to investigation or restriction on practice (i.e. suspension). Individuals must continue to meet revalidation requirements.
  • Have evidence of 24 months+ of clinical experience post-graduation from their medical degree. (Must have completed foundation training or equivalent).
  • Be a medical doctor with relevant clinical experience such as Emergency care and/or Sports & Exercise Medicine
  • Possess the appropriate indemnity insurance for working in professional sport.
  • Hold a Level 3 Pre-Hospital immediate Care in Sport Course (IMMOFP or Equivalent). Alternative Qualifications or Course for IMMOFP Equivalent detailed below;
    • IMMOFP is a Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (BCSEd) faculty of prehospital care endorsed course and part of the Cross Recognition of Emergency Care Courses in Sport Agreement. iIMMOFP BCSEd endorsement is in process. Only endorsed courses listed as advertised by the joint statement release by the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (FSEM), Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care (FPHC) and British Association of Sports and Exercise Medicine will be accepted as Equivalent. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes;
      • Pre-Hospital Immediate Care in Sport (PHICIS L3) (NB if this accreditation is used the IMMOFP refresher must be completed in line with IMMOFP refresher cycles)
      • Medical Cardiac & Pitch Side Skills (SCRUMCAPS)
      • Advanced Trauma Medical Management in Football (ATMMiF)
  • Assess injuries and treat accordingly.
  • Manage concussion injuries whilst adhering to Rugby Football League (RFL) guidelines and head injury assessment protocols.
  • Manage injuries where players suffer a major trauma.
  • Fully document any treatment in line with professional requirements and criteria.
  • Appropriate governing/professional body memberships.

Desirable requirements for this role:

  • Experience of carrying out a similar role in a similar sporting environment.
  • Knowledge of typical injuries suffered in a high-intensity collision sport such as rugby league.
  • Hold a diploma in sports medicine or equivalent.
  • Experience of overseeing a small team of medical personnel.
  • Managing sporting injuries by adopting an evidence-based approach.
