Von Williams re-signs for Hornets Women for 2026

Rochdale Hornets Women have announced the re-signing of forward Von Williams for the 2026 season.

The 38-year-old forward re-signs for the club after a successful debut season during our promotion year.

“I am so excited to be signing for Hornets again," she said. 

"The atmosphere is one of a kind, especially off the back of last year's amazing achievements, although my injury early on prevented me from playing as much as I would have wanted.

"I can't wait to be back on the pitch with such a good bunch of girls. It's a fresh mix of experience, familiar faces and some young fresh talent, so I feel privileged to play alongside them, even more so to still be playing alongside my daughter. 

"Also a massive thank you to Ben Bird, Rob Rigby and all the team involved who support us through everything, on and off the pitch. Also, a massive thank you to all our supporters that have shown love to the women's team. It means the world to be back.”

Women's head coach Ben Bird said: “It's really good to see Von hitting the straps again in training after struggling with a knee injury last year. 

"As a player, she's a no-nonsense, hard running, hard-hitting middle that you can rely on to stand up to whoever we're up against. We obviously excelled last year on field, but that's based on an environment off the field centred on inclusivity and valuing each other as people as well as players. 

"Von really led with this and it told on the field. Von committing to us again I believe is really important this year, and I'm glad she's able to contribute fully on the pitch as well as off.”
