Prop forward Paddy Jones joins Rochdale Hornets

Rochdale Hornets have agreed a deal to sign North Wales Crusaders prop forward Paddy Jones ahead of the 2026 season.

Jones makes the move to the Crown Oil Arena following a stand-out season which saw him feature 19 times for North Wales as they were crowned Betfred League 1 champions.

The 28-year-old also becomes the fourth member of North Wales' 2025 squad to link up with the Hornets, joining former team-mates Jamie Dallimore, Matty Unsworth and Jack Holmes.

A no-nonsense forward, Jones has spent the majority of his career with Swinton Lions.

He made 71 appearances for the club across five seasons and was also named Swinton's Man Of Steel in 2019.

“I’m excited to get stuck into the challenge,” Jones said.

“Going into a new season with a new group of lads, I can’t wait to be part of a well-run club that is heading in the right direction.”

Rochdale Hornets chairman Andy Mazey said: "I’m delighted to welcome Paddy to Rochdale Hornets.

“He is another good bloke who was part of a successful Swinton Lions side in 2019, and brings a wealth of Championship experience to the club.

“Paddy has most recently enjoyed a couple of solid years with North Wales, picking up a League One winners medal in 2025.

“He is a tough character who will fit into the group really well, and will always do an unselfish job for the team.”
