Jordan Syme makes Hornets return ahead of 2026 season

Loose forward Jordan Syme has become Rochdale Hornets' third new signing of the week.
The dependable middle has joined the club on a one-year deal, having spent the last four seasons at Hunslet.
He made 88 appearances in all competitions for the Parksiders, during which time he was widely recognised for his worth ethic, ball-playing ability and versatility across multiple forward positions.
Syme returns to the Hornets for a third spell, having originally featured on loan during the 2018 season.
He joined the club permanently ahead of the Covid-hit 2020 campaign, making four appearances that season and a further 16 the following year.
Syme becomes the club's third new signing of the week, following on from the arrival of half-back Jordan Paga and second-rower Matty Unsworth.
“I’m really excited to be returning to Rochdale for the season ahead. I feel like the timing was right for me to take on a new challenge,” he said.
“Rochdale is a club I know well. I know how hard the staff work behind the scenes to create a really good atmosphere for the playing group.
“I can see how passionate and welcoming the fans are, and this is something I can’t wait to be a part of.
“After speaking with Gary Thornton, his style of play aligns massively with how I want to play the game.
“I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in with the lads, and I will be looking to bring my experience to the playing group and have a real dig this season.”
Rochdale Hornets chairman Andy Mazey said: "We are delighted to be bringing Jordan Syme back to Rochdale Hornets, and thrilled to have secured the services of such a hard-working and skilful loose forward who was described as ‘Mr consistent’ by Hunslet supporters.
"When Gary Thornton and I spoke about the profile of player and type of character we wanted at this club moving forward, Jordan very quickly became a top target and high priority.
"He brings a wealth of Championship and League One experience, yet is still only in his twenties.
"He is a model professional and was ever-present during Hunslet’s promotion year in 2024, and has featured regularly in the Championship this term.
"I know this news will be well received by our supporters, and we look forward to welcoming Jordan and the Syme family back to the Hornets."
