Tommy Brierley released

Rochdale Hornets outside back Tommy Brierley has been released from the remainder of his contract, allowing him to take up a deal with another Betfred League 1 club.

Brierley joined the Hornets from Oldham towards the end of the 2023 season and enjoyed a fast start to his time at the Crown Oil Arena, scoring three tries in his first two appearances.

A deal was struck to enable him to remain at the club for the 2024 campaign, and Brierley has gone on to score a further seven tries in nine matches.

He has also spent time on loan at Workington Town in recent weeks, featuring four times.

Now, player and club have mutually agreed to an early termination of Brierley’s contract with the Hornets, enabling the 27-year-old to further his game time elsewhere.
