Hornets land young Warrington Wolves forward on loan

Young forward Charlie McKler has returned to Rochdale Hornets on loan from Betfred Super League side Warrington Wolves.

A product of the successful Rochdale Mayfield youth system, McKler first joined the club on loan during the second half of last season and made three appearances.

He has already featured for Warrington at reserve team level this season, impressing in their season-opening 62-0 victory over Hull KR less than a fortnight ago.

He bolsters the squad ahead of this weekend's home game against Sheffield Eagles and could feature alongside fellow Warrington youngster Isaac Reid, who joined the Hornets on loan earlier this season.

Rochdale Hornets chairman Andy Mazey said: "Charlie proved very popular when he was with us last year, and we've kept close to Warrington regarding his availability.

“Gary really likes what Charlie is about, and we are therefore pleased to bring him in again and add to our pack options.

“Like Isaac Reid, Ben Metcalfe and Harry Sheridan, he's a Rochdale lad and a product of the excellent Rochdale Mayfield amateur club. It is great for the sport of rugby league in our town to have clubs working collaboratively to ensure Rochdale lads are getting opportunities at all levels of the game.”
