Exciting outside back TJ Boyd joins Rochdale Hornets

Rochdale Hornets have signed promising outside back TJ Boyd from Leigh Leopards on a one-year deal.

Boyd has starred for the Leopards’ reserve team over the last two years.

In both 2024 and 2025, he was crowned Reserve Team Player of the Year, demonstrating his quality and influence.

A product of Ince Rose Bridge, where he has been since the age of five, Boyd has been identified as someone with real scope to grow into a top-level performer, and we look forward to giving him the stage to fulfil his undoubted potential.

"I'm very excited for the upcoming challenge and grateful for the opportunity," he said.

"In 2026, I'm determined to show myself and everyone else that I am good enough to play at this level and even better.

"I'm looking forward to the journey this season will bring."

Rochdale Hornets chairman Andy Mazey said:  "TJ is very highly rated by Leigh and comes personally recommended by Stuart Littler, whose opinion on a player Gary Thornton and I trust.

“Adrian Lam also rates TJ, and at 21 we believe he still has loads of growth in him.

“He is a very exciting player, and I strongly believe he has the potential to become a top Championship performer.”
