Ethan Wood arrives on one-year deal

Rochdale Hornets have signed young Hunslet second-rower Ethan Wood on a 12-month deal ahead of the 2026 season.
Formerly of Wakefield Trinity, Wood joined Hunslet on loan towards the end of the 2024 season.
He went on to play a big part in the Parksiders' rise to the Betfred Championship, starting against Swinton Lions in the Promotion Play-Off game.
Wood, who operates primarily as a second-rower but can also fill in at centre, made 14 appearances for Hunslet last season in the Championship, scoring three tries.
“I’m very excited to be joining Rochdale and getting back to playing regular rugby,” he said.
“I can't wait to get stuck into pre-season with the lads and have a successful year, on and off the field.”
Rochdale Hornets chairman Andy Mazey said: "Ethan first impressed and came to Gary's attention in 2024 while playing for Hunslet, on loan from Wakefield.
"He was outstanding in the play-offs, especially in their Grand Final win over Keighley.
"He is a superb addition for us, and I know Gary Thornton and Jacko [Ryan Jackson, assistant coach] are delighted that we've managed to secure his signature, and they can't wait to work with him.
"We are delighted he has chosen to come to Rochdale Hornets and be part of an exciting next chapter at a very special club.”
