Quartet arrive on loan until end of season

Four Rochdale-born Betfred Super League youngsters have joined the club on loan for the remainder of the season.

Wakefield Trinity centre Harry Ratcliffe will link up with the Hornets squad alongside Warrington Wolves' Isaac Reid, Charlie McKler and James Duffy.

The incoming players will add further depth to Gary Thornton’s squad as the pursuit of a top-four finish continues. 

Of the new players from Warrington, Reid and McKler have primarily played in the pack, both for the club’s scholarship team and reserves. Duffy is capable of operating in the halves and further wide as an outside back.

All four players are products of the successful Rochdale Mayfield youth system, and we're delighted to welcome them to the Crown Oil Arena for the remainder of the season.

We thank both clubs for their cooperation in allowing their players to continue their development with us, during what is undoubtedly a pivotal stage of the season. 

Rochdale Hornets head coach Gary Thornton said: "We’ve brought these young lads in to bolster our troops over the coming weeks.

"They have all come from really good academy systems and are ready for the next steps in their careers.

"They are also highly rated by their respective Super League clubs and will bring enthusiasm and energy to our group."

Chairman Andy Mazey said: “It's now the business end of the year, with some big games coming thick and fast.

“We are also approaching the transfer deadline, and with our current injury situation also in mind, we have acted decisively to refresh the squad and to provide Gary with some quality options. 

“What is even more pleasing about these deals is they are all Rochdale-based lads from Super League club environments, and are therefore bringing a strong desire to represent their hometown club.”
