Women's coaching staff confirmed for 2025 season

The club can confirm Ben Bird's backroom team ahead of the 2025 season.

Head coach Bird returns to take charge of the re-born Hornets, after he agreed a deal back in November. 

Following the re-birth of the Hornets Women's team, there will be four staff members forming part of Bird's immediate backroom team. 

Rob Rigby returns as assistant coach for a third year, following previous spells with Bird at Hornets and Littleborough, Whitworth, Greetland and Wigan St. Pats.

Harriett Jackson also returns to Hornets as Team Manager, whilst former Mens Team student rehabilitator Chelsea Gore, joins the Women's side as the matchday Physio.

The women's side is boosted by Callum Mather as Sport Psychologist, which brings a new dimension and support to the side.

Ben Bird commented on his new staffing team ahead of the new season;

“This year there's a massively improved infrastructure and support network around the squad. A consistent match day medical team was a priority, having Chelsea Gore as the professionalised medic is testament to the clubs commitment to the welfare of the ladies.

Harriet Jackson is team manager this year, she's been a consistent in the women's setup for the last 3/4 years and brings continuity into this season.

Callum joins us as a Sports Psychologist, which when you hear the role seems a bit extra. 
However, what Callum offers in terms of being able to support with the women’s individual training and game psychology, as well as helping me to understand individuals better is something that is another factor which will benefit the squad this season.

Finally Rob Rigby will be coaching with me this year, he likes to make sure I'm labelled as Head Coach, but Rob's been a bit of a mentor over the years for me as a coach. I met him when I coached his eldest son and have been friends ever since. He has a wealth of experience coaching in the women's game, he likes to avoid any limelight or praise but he's key to everything we'll do this year.”
