Gregg McNally agrees new one-year deal

Rochdale Hornets full-back Gregg McNally has signed a new 12-month deal.

The extension will take McNally into his second successive season at the Hornets, and his 18th overall in the professional game. 

In 2025, McNally will combine his on-field duties with a role in the club’s backroom performance team.

The 33-year-old has appeared 18 times for the Hornets this season and played a major role in the club’s successful journey to the Betfred League 1 play-offs, which begin this Sunday against Hunslet at the Crown Oil Arena. 

He has also enjoyed a successful testimonial year in 2024, starting with a friendly against former club Leigh and culminating with a series of highly successful events which have helped raise money for McNally’s charities of choice.

“I’m buzzing to have agreed to be a Hornet again for next year,” McNally said.

“It was an easy decision to make, and I’m proud to play for a real family club with great people involved.

“We have been moving in a positive direction as a club over the past 12 months, and I’m looking forward to helping the club grow even further, on and off the pitch.”

Rochdale Hornets chairman Andy Mazey said: “Gregg’s quality and experience has proved to be invaluable on and off the park for us this year.

“I know our supporters will be delighted with this news, as is everyone at the club, and it’s another major positive to see him going again in 2025.

“Gregg will also be taking his first steps on the coaching ladder with us in 2025, working not only as part of the playing group but the performance team, which shows as a club we are developing in all areas and are striving for continuous improvement year on year.”
