Kids celebrated Rochdale Schools Games win by acting as curtain raisers
St Joseph's in Heywood provided the stars before the show at the Crown Oil Arena on Sunday, with kids from the school appearing as the curtain raiser for Rochdale Hornets' win over Barrow.
They were given a tour of the stadium before showing off their skills on the pitch and meeting some of the Rochdale Hornets players. They capped it off with a photo opportunity on the pitch with Councillor Peter Rush of Rochdale Council.
The St Joseph's team were celebrating their success in the Rochdale Borough School Games rugby league competition, which they recently won.
The Schools Games Partnership is an initiative that involves 43 primary school from all over the Borough and provides an extra two hours of PE lessons per week for participating schools.
Thanks to everyone at St Joseph's Primary in Heywood for coming down on Sunday, and thank you to Cllr Peter Rush and the Hornets' players for making them feel welcome!
