BUZZING DEC GREGORY SIGNS ON FOR ANOTHER YEAR

YOUNG Declan Gregory has penned a new contract with Rochdale Hornets keeping him at the Crown Oil Arena for at least another year.

The wiry hooker who turned into a real crowd pleaser in 2018 is known for his Rob Burrow-like stature and darting runs from dummy half.

The Wiganer joined up with the squad ahead of the 2018 season where he provided cover for established rakes Ben Moores and Ryan Maneely. However, with Maneely’s departure part-way through the campaign, Gregory was shot into first team action by then coach, Alan Kilshaw.

Unfortunately, Dec was hampered by injury during the mid-season but he still managed to make 17 appearances, scoring two tries including a game clinching effort against Dewsbury Rams in the penultimate round of the season.

The youngster admits it was tough year for him injury wise, but despite that he is ‘buzzing’ to get going.

“I’m buzzing to have re-signed with Rochdale for another year and can’t wait to get started!

“Last year was tough, both personally with injuries and with the team on and off the field, but I’m feeling very positive about this year.”

Dec admitted a big pull for him was the chance to work with new coach Carl Forster.

“Carl’s plans seem really good and he is putting a real healthy squad together.”
